I was. He was a Russian writer named Leo Tolstoy, and I ... was his mistress for 15 years. Which is what happens when you get shot by one of your nephew's arrows on accident.

There's very little to be impressed about, really. He named his most famous work for me, but I had little to do with the creation of it. Mainly I just acted as a type of living sanctuary and sounding board. Then he married, had children and led a full life.

How/why did it end? If you don't mind my asking.

Yes. It's not really about war and peace, but the human condition and how bloody wonderful you guys are during conflict and, for lack of a better word, peaceful times.

He decided it was time to get married. We corresponded for a few years afterwards, but Leo was faithful to his wife. I was pretty devastated when we parted. He was determined to be a good family man, though, and you can't have a mistress on the side.

I haven't ... you're the first person I've really talked about this with in decades.
