Eirene knows that Clark can find her pretty much anywhere on the planet, so she doesn't try to conceal herself. The whole point is making a game out of it and having fun. After a few seconds of debating, she chooses a spot near Galveston, Texas, on the Gulf of Mexico. It's warm, the beach is deserted, and the sky above is riddled with stars.
She waits there, on a blanket, counting down the second minute. He's got three to go.

He arrives in a spray of sand, which he tries his best to keep in the directions away from his wife. "I'd say tag, but I think I'd rather stay here than continue the game."
And it took him four minutes. Sue him.

"Who said there was only one game?"
Suing is Nomi's job.

And it's a good thing Nomi isn't here, then, for more reasons than just that.

"Of course they are."

"I'm supposed to be building a bonfire, aren't I?"
no subject
"Only if you want to. The dark is kind of romantic."

He pauses for a moment, studying the sky silently and then points to the south. "Well, Monoceros is there, between Hydra and Orion. A bit north of that is Lynx, just above Cancer and Gemini, and just north east of Lynx is Camelopardalis. Continue dead east and there's Triangulum, which if you look at with a telescope, you can also see the Pinwheel Galaxy."

Which is why she casually slides over to straddle his thighs and start unbuttoning the pretty black work shirt. "You have such a lovely voice."

His hands slowly slide up her calves. "You know, you've got the brightest star I need with you."
no subject
"That's because you love me."

Beat.
Whispered, "Do that again."
no subject
"Like that?" All innocence, his goddess.

Fingers creep up under her shirt and brush lightly against her chest. "Let me know if that's uncomfortable." He's read those areas get sensitive.

"More, please." She'll tempt him by nipping his chin with her teeth.

Until the first strike. Abruptly her eyes fly open, and a puzzled expression crosses her face. Eirene tries to dismiss it as an anomaly, but a few minutes later, when she's getting back into the groove, it happens again.
Huffing out a breath, she steals one of Clark's hands, and nestles it against her belly, so he can feel it too when Zoe kicks her stomach about ten seconds later.

When the next kick comes, a wide grin spreads across his face. "That's so awesome."
no subject
"She's not kicking you," the goddess retorts, but due to the lack of pain in her voice, and the fact she's smiling like an idiot, belies any real sting. "Oh Tartarus, she's going to be fiesty."

"She's stirring again."

The books say the last few months are the worst, which means that June, July and early August will be ... interesting.

"It's weird. I've seen so many cows pregnant and watched them give birth over the years, but it never really hit me exactly what goes on until ... this." He prods her stomach gently. "Think it's a foot or a hand?"
no subject
"I have no idea." Eirene glances down to where his hand hovers, placing hers on top of it, and concentrates briefly. Ordinarily, she would be able to sense everything about her daughter, but those crafty Kryptonian genes are still being sneaky. "Foot probably. I think she's kicking again."
Future Miss Football Player.

"I'll have to get her a little football," he decides. Not that he wasn't going to eventually, but sooner rather than later can't hurt. "Strong legs are good for running, too."
no subject
"Good idea." Pause. "Wait. American or European football?" Because there's a small difference between thet wo.
no subject
Oh, Eirene. Does the crestfallen look on Clark's face answer that for you?

And then a very serious, "Football isn't something we joke about, you know."
no subject
"I know how important it is to you." She's trying for a serious expression, because of the whole 'Clark is a football fanatic' thing. "And you know I don't tease you about it." Usually.
"But, honey, I had to."
no subject
"You love torturing me." He's so hard done by, he is.

"It's my life's work, boyscout."
