The Athens Gate Hotel is one of the city's shining jewels in the hotel industry. Tonight it has been taken over by several hundred dignitaries in preparation for the opening ceremonies of the 2004 Olympic Games on the morrow. And by 'taken over' the narration means it; both the ground floor reception room and the rooftop garden have been invaded by A-list guests, including movie stars, ambassadors and several deities.

The guest of honor is one Thallo Eirene, whose status wasn't something she was aware of until arriving at the hotel, and someone tried to whisk her away for a photoshoot with some of the other celebrities.

(It was a very reluctant photoshoot on her part.)

Now, she's ensconced in the garden with her date, mentally counting down the time they still have to suffer through before she can make a graceful exit and run away from all the media attention. The dress she's wearing isn't exactly helping with her attempts to be a wallflower.

"Your Holiness." Eirene glances up at the latest intruder, and smiles pleasantly. "Your Holiness. Thank you for coming, sir. I know that your followers are pleased to see you out and about."

That's right. She's talking to the Pope.

There's a soft sigh before he answers, mostly because she's moving. The moment, for whatever it was, is over.

"No, I brought an overnight bag this time. Can I help with anything? Make you some tea?"

[eirenikos]

If Eirene wasn't so nervous, she'd be able to sit still. As it is, there is a good chance she'll be up all night worrying, because tomorrow is so important.

"You did? I didn't even notice. I'm so sorry. Actually, tea would be nice. I'm gonna go put some clothing on so I don't accidently flash any of my neighbors."

[hero_farmboy]

"I'm being a good boy scout this time. Prepared, and all that."

Clark sighs again as she stands, and then follows suit. "Tea it is. And your neighbours should be so lucky."

[eirenikos]

Her grin is fleeting, but there. "I'll get you an Olympic badge for the scout collection."

Beat.

"Why do you keep sighing?"

Eirene hasn't moved away.

[hero_farmboy]

He shrugs, and then leans down to plant a kiss on the top of her head. "Because that was nice while it lasted, but you have things to do. Next time, I'll steal you so we can just hang out and do nothing."

[eirenikos]

It's her turn to look sheepish. "I'm just trying to keep busy so the waiting doesn't drive me insane. If you have any ideas, now is definitely the time to speak up."

Or she will be going methodically through checklists and folders for the near future.

[hero_farmboy]

"Ideas, huh?" He slips his hands around her waist and pulls her toward him, kissing her forehead this time. "I could maybe think of something, if you really want to be distracted."

[eirenikos]

The puppy eyes expression should be answer enough. But just in case he doesn't get it, "Yes please. Scrabble, movies, tic-tac-toe, I'll even sew something for you, anything. I don't care."

Melantha bounds through the doggy partition a moment later, wuffing once, circling Eirene and Clark once, and trots over to flop down on her bed with a chew bone.

Tired puppy is tired.

[hero_farmboy]

Tired puppy can relax, now that her goddess and alien are in for the night.

Eirene's nose is kissed, and then her lips. "I was thinking along the lines of Scrabble, but you know, possibly just skipping to the end like last time."

[eirenikos]

This ... can be worked with. Eirene is polite enough to return that kiss before smugging up at him. "Okay, boyscout. We can make out for a while before I tuck you in and everything."

Beat.

"Just proves you can't keep your hands off me."

[hero_farmboy]

He grins down at her. "And who's fault is that?"

[eirenikos]

Eirene can recite this one in her sleep.

"Mine, because I'm irresistable."

Even if she doesn't quite believe it and may only be humoring him.

[hero_farmboy]

"Exactly." Humouring him or not, it's what he wanted to hear, and he's not in the mood to get all serious.

...well, not quite in that way.

[eirenikos]

"Such a boyscout." Clark will get a smug expression and be pulled down for a kiss. In that order.

[hero_farmboy]

"So you keep telling me," he manages to say before their lips meet. And then he's too busy to continue with words.

[eirenikos]

Her reply would have been 'shut up and kiss me' but that's already being attended to, so Eirene will just step up onto the tops of his boots and wrap her arms around his waist.

And try not to break the kiss in the process.

[hero_farmboy]

His arms wind more securely around her, partially to help keep her balance, but also simply just to keep her as close as possible. And after a few minutes, he'll gently lift her up, so they're face to face.

"I think we should take this upstairs."

[eirenikos]

Clark is a good person to be close too, and not just physically, even if the warmth radiating off of him is pleasant. He has a real knack for making her feel wanted. Especially now.

"Just pick a spot you won't mind getting tucked into later."

[hero_farmboy]

"That should be my room, then." And with a brief whoosh of air, that is, in fact, where they are. And Clark isn't letting her go quite yet.

"Unless you'd prefer somewhere else."

[eirenikos]

"No. If I preferred elsewhere, I would've suggested it. This is fine." She'll slide her arms around his neck and press a light kiss to the tip of his nose.

"There's a good chance I might doze off up here, though."

[hero_farmboy]

"I'll try to suffer through it if you do," he teases, nuzzling his nose along her cheek after it's kissed.

[eirenikos]

"That would be greatly appreciated." Her fingers might slide all sneaky and ninja-like under his shirt at this point, possibly because he isn't paying attention to them.

There's a soft sigh of something akin to contentment, as his head leans against hers before he angles to line their mouths up for another kiss. His hands grip tightly at her waist, keeping her close against him.

[eirenikos]

She might levitate into the air a couple of inches so he doesn't have to lean down so far, even though she's aware that it won't make too much difference for him, because its the thought that counts.

Usually.

He still tastes like summer grass and starlight.

Eirene still tastes like... well, Eirene. It's more than rain and roses now. It's just her.

The thing with her levitating is that her hands are under his t-shirt, so it rises with her. Not that Clark minds. At all. But there is a slight intake of breath the higher her fingers venture and his own start digging into the soft fabric of her robe.
